American by birth focuses on a factory worker in a Sri Lankan leather trousers production plant. I was fascinated by the contradiction between the permanently repetitive, manual-industrial action and the worker's inscribed T-shirt. I was captivated by the fact that he is embedded in an industrial work process characterised by monotony and the imaginative desire for boundless freedom that is expressed on his T-shirt. A sign of our globalised realities in terms of production and realities of life.
